Reading, MA
Reading has been our hometown for many years and we have watched it grow over the years from a sleepy suburb to a more vibrant local community with terrific local shops and restaurants. Many areas of the downtown are very pedestrian friendly in the style of a traditional New England village.
Homes near the center will tend to range in age from the 1850's to the 1940's as Reading embraced industrial age with a number of local factories for shoes, boxes and the Pierce Organ Factory. Reading also features several historic districts. In them you will find homes by noted architect Horace G. Wadlin and also a few dating back to the revolutionary war. A great resource for learning more about Reading's history is the book - At Wood End.
Homes on the outer edges - will typically features larger lots and lots of homes from the 1950's on as the remaining large parcels of former farm and were developed.
In the new millenium Reading continues to strive to preserve the small town feel while maintaining a high level of services, excellent fiscal management, and strong public school systems.
